It’s Official…

I know believe I qualify as a full-fledged programmer.  Setting aside the strange coincidences that led this English lit major to become a programmer in the first place, somehow after three years of coding, I still didn’t feel quite like a programmer.

It had nothing to do with the languages, which I know and understand (VBA being the primary one, with HTML as a fun backup, and some bits and pieces of others). It had nothing to do with my current or past projects. After all, I’ve built applications for large retail corporations that are still in use. I’m currently in the middle of a build that is an enormous undertaking and has a team that’s comprised of five separate individuals.

No, what made it official in my mind was last night. I was up working on a project until 2AM. I was, basically, coding all night.

Now I feel like I’ve earned that badge. That I’m now, officially, and computer programmer.
